  • SOLD: May 1965 GEN.1 SEIKO 6217-8000 aka the 1st SEIKO diver aka 62MAS-010 || All Original Un-restored || Price NZD3250 Delivered

    As Pictured: 1 x SEIKO 62MAS 6217-8000 #55099xx - this watch has just been fully overhauled & serviced by our resident vintage SEIKO tech (David G. aka kiwidave) and has only been worn for 3-4 WAYWOF and DAILY-WEAR wrist shot posts. Tidy dial & clean case (look at the case/caseback interface!) - someone with a Rhodium pen & steady hand could clean up the lume pots if you wanted other than that not much to do unless you felt like a new insert... then you might as well get one of the new repro MAS if you are that way inclined

    Arguably the definitive SEIKO diver of any SEIKO collection, this is the legend watch that fathered them all, it's ideology & heritage beats strongly inside of EVERY SEIKO PROFESSIONAL Diver since, they all owe their design elements & lineage to the MAS.

    This MAY 1965 example is one of the very very first SEIKO PRO divers to leave the factory, May 1965, a very early offering, Gen. 1 examples were produced only during April & May 1965.

    Unrestored, during my ownership only a full overhaul was performed & that, only for sale

    Ours for 7+ years, the 3rd we've had, original & wholly unfettered, no repro parts

    This watch has mana, it feels precious to hold & wear

    month 2 of production! and a small crown with no case indent, nice. worth noting that the 8000s were a short production run prior to the 8001, how short? well the first case backs were marked 54 1965-april and the final run watches were marked 55 1965 May (if anyone finds a 56 case back let me know) so this watch was in production for anything from 2 to 8 weeks, even by seiko standards that is a short run.

    any interest in trades for lesser watches?
