This one is, despite winning the awards, just a really bloody good beer.....not a bloody great beer. Still a bloody good beer

If you can find it.....best beer I have had. It's big though at over 11% and brewed in 2015 I think. There will be still some bottles out in the wild.
Wrong season for it but tuck it away for winter if you find it.
                It will/does age really well.
I scored 8 bottles a few months ago cheap and intended to cellar them.....none left now.

I tried this when I was at King of Snake for dinner a year or two ago from memory. I couldn’t really remember what it was like so I thought I’d grab a bottle today to try.
It’s an enjoyable, easy drinking beer. Pilsener? Maybe in the brewing style, but nothing like most modern pilseners. It reminded me a little of the old Monteiths Pilsener from 10yrs ago. Good for a hot day, a BBQ or to accompany a curry.

McLeod’s make a damn fine brew and funnily enough I’m particularly fond of this one!

Based on a Scottish heavy, it’s very smooth, malty and has a hint of difference from the addition of some horopito. At 7.2 it’s got a decent weight, has a bit more depth to it than the Sprig & Fern Scotch Ale, which is still a good drop mind you. I would also say it has the edge on the Renaissance

The downside of this one is the price, at $10 or slightly over a bottle it’s up there and that’s where the Sprig & Fern knocks out the value at $15 for double the quantity... if you need more than one, grab the Fern, if you want a decent food matching beer with pastrami and game meats as an alternative to wine grab the McLeod’s

                              Slainte
