  • Late 1950's Breitling 1191 with some cool patina.
I'd like to keep the Chrono running on this like we're recommended to do on vintage seikos but I found that as a manual wind, after a couple hours it affects the power reserve significantly and the watch itself loses time. Anyone else have this issue with vintage manual chronographs if the Chrono is left running?? This is running the Venus 178 or 188 - can't remember.

I think I'd lost about two hours or so, after running the Chrono for about 4 hours. Not sure if I'd fully wound the watch that day when putting it on, but it definitely needed a good wind once I found that it had lost time.

yeah that could really throw your day out of whack! the other day I put on a watch thinking it was before the power reserve had run down only to figure out later the watch had stopped 30 mins before i put it on. Nearly didnt collect the kids from school but luckily i caught it in time.

      • GEN I SEIKO Ti SAMURAI

(Nice model, only available for a limited of years. Orange display models weren’t available on the Ti bracelet so lots of collectors had to buy 2 watches - this ones been all over, it’s had an interesting life, doesn’t get worn much now - original bar a green hued double domed saphir which protect a typically SEIKO , purposeful display & indicators).

i have 2 mates who are builders/chippies and i got both of them that very model (i think!) they have smashed the crap out of them for the better part of 3yrs and every time i meet up with them for a beer, the seiko are on and going strong. they look like they have been in a grinding barrel but they are still ticking away

Yes this one is probably no different; liberally covered in scratches and small dents. They do not tell a story though, other than my abuse of this solid and dependable watch. Super light also, the head alone is only 30grams.
