Beats the crap out of any SuperLuminova equipped display too haha

it's an instrument with a time function. just like a car full of bread doesn't become a bakery, this isn't a watch.
nothing wrong with it, I wear my Fitbit doohickey on my right wrist and it can display time but a watch it aint.
for me YMMV an items function dictates its name. a watches primary function is to tell time, we can add complications but its primary role is to tell the wearer how late they are running (in my case anyway) my phone is a phone although I think they should be referred to as comms/soft porn display module judging by the no. of texts and dodgy links I am sent on a daily basis!!

wear it with pride H, one day the rainbow community will salute you

These things IMHO are at best wrist computers. Designed to enhance user appreciation of a mobile phone. The time function is not the primary function and therefore cannot be a "watch" even if the holy of holy "H" is wearing it. I own a few things which tell the time.....A pen, a lighter, my microwave, and my fridge........I call them, a pen, a lighter, a microwave, a fridge Even though I'm probably well capable of strapping up the fridge and walking around with it on my wrist, it will always be a fridge
Preparation and planning prevent piss poor performance

A watch needs just 2 indicators or hands, to be a 'watch', anything else is needless in as far as 'telling the time' goes, thats why anything above & beyond those 2 indicators of hours & minutes is called a 'complication'.

So this item here, this Patek Phillipe Sky Moon Tourbillon, feature packed, with it's 33 'complications, is it not a watch then... cos sure as sh!t no one who owns this item needs to ever tell the time haha

so do you think Samsung set out to design a watch for you or an instrument to tell you how fecked you are with the option of time display?

you could wear this one, its a watch apparently!

As you may see in the below links to circumstantial evidence, not only is it a watch, based on the fact you can put it on your wrist and watch it.....it will also help keep you awake while you are on watch for people to copulate with in random public toilets. You can take down their phone numbers with it too and call the pigs if some shit goes down. The fact it does not have a camera however makes it a useless status symbol that won't even give you the ability to be put in goal. H may say it's a watch and loosely I guess he's right, he may rave on about how well it's lasted, and how many men he has got into conversations with at the rugby club or other men ball orientated events, but the truth is it's a paper weight mostly cause I've never ever seen him wear it and even if he did use it it's only bluetoothing to his phone so really it's a cellphone accessory. The truth is out there. If H says it's a watch, that one is his so it's a watch..... Everyone else's are just a fad.

                  hahahaah

Any voting able to be done by moi would be for option 3... I am surprised actually, I didn't think it would be 8:5 against it being a watch, I though it'd be the other way round... mind you the sample size is very small... couple more votes could even things up.

I still think, if it looks like a watch, works like a watch, its a watch... who cares if it has 3, 7 or (like that Patek) 33 extra functions... it's still a watch.

And I use it (only occasionally I admit) as a watch.

                  Surely it's a watch?

It tells the time and is worn on the wrist therefore it’s a watch.

I have to go with 'it's a watch".
It tells the time and uses a watch strap, all the other complications are secondary.
I think the problem lies in the threatening nature of the "smart watch" people feel in relation to our hobby (obsession).

There is one real issue in this stance though that could sway me the other way.....it cannot (yet?) be fixed by a watch maker.

In relation to smart watches threatening traditional watches, I dont buy it. They just do not do any of the traditional things watches do well. Imagine if you get lost in the bush/stranded...you only have the ability to know the time for 6-12 hrs untli it becomes useless due to the battery.
