I see there is a new limited edition Ardbeg out now...Kelpie I think it's called. There's another 177 bucks down the hatch
I tried the Kelpie at a tasting on World Ardbeg Day (!) on the 3rd June and it was very pleasant but underwhelming for the price which puts it up against some stiff competition.

DW - that HP 25year old is the business !!

There is a book being passed around at the moment... might help, should be an old post on a book by Iain Banks just PM if you want it passed on when the reader is finished

Falling short of that if your in Auckland and want a dram let me know and I'll happily sit and talk pish aw night!
I'd be keen on the book Brucy, I couldn't resist and I bought a bottle of Jameson. I've read single malt is the way to go but yeah, gonna try it out and hope I enjoy it

UNDERWHELMING  :?: I think my Mrs has bought me a bottle for my up coming birthday. I think I might have said it before, that the Ardbeg experience is like having your face pushed slowly into a rugby field by Jonah lomu and then being kissed better by that bird from the first Transformer film  I've got high expectations for this Kelpie. I'll let you know Jake......Assuming she has actually bought me anything at all

Ah Jamieson's is a easy place to start, fairly smooth and easy on the palate Imagecheck the old post to see who has the book

Cap, your a lucky man if the Mrs buys you a bottle for your birthday... I have to buy my own knowing that 2 days out from my birthday the Mrs is going to panic and say "darling I don't have anything for your birthday" and I'll say "that's alright dear, here's something for the kids to wrap" Image

The plus side of buying your own is that you can buy it whenever and normalise the concept of the purchase... even my 6 year old gets the mail and says "dad, it's another watch strap"
