i'm all for being in business to make a profit and further your company but F me dead Omega, give it a rest.
we get it, jimmy bond the fictional movie star wears an Omega sometimes (when he's not wearing Rolex or Seiko plus...bond nerds add here) the pic below shows what to my mind is wrong with some brands today. it's like instagash, twatter & all the other important social media platforms of the day. passing sensations, no substance and cool as feck for a week until the next idiot comes along. you would hope this was designed by a 14yr old but it wont be the case, it will be a feckstack of suits in a room with the goal of peddling yet another tenuously linked watch out to the world for an insane price. 7007 pieces is not limited!

it's true; watch fans are never the target market for watch makers
the ad below clearly states "Omega, we are clean out of ideas so we hawk tat to walts"
a few special features of this watch include...
1. the sec hand counter is the bond logo and gun! Ooh, the buyer will be neck deep in panties on that one alone
2. the 7 on the date window is red? holy moly, i'm off to get my hand lotion.
3. if you are a special type of retard (the wealthy ones) you can have 1 of only 7 gold cased examples, i give up.
the worst of it is they will sell and make a killing. if this is what the manufaturers do then you know what, Alan, if you're out there sell your IWC, make a killing mate cos' you're no worse than these s#!t hawks.

younger viewers may need to google basildon for ref.

I take it that you're not going to rush out and buy one then John :lolno: I can't help wondering what a full collection of "Basildon" watches would be worth in say 50 years time

thats it though, there will never be a full collection.
there will be the 50-60-70 yr editions, the Jane Bond (has to happen everntually), the bond tuesday (i still laugh at that one)
i know there are avid collectors out there and it just seems like Omega prey on them. they are capable of some great deigns and this is what they release.

Another great DW post

The title reminds me of this song from 2000, which I never thought I'd ever be quoting from  Reading the lyrics now does fit what I imagine Omega's response to this thread would be...

Oops!...I Did It Again
Britney Spears

...

Oops, I did it again
I played with your heart, got lost in the game
Oh baby, baby
Oops, you think I'm in love
That I'm sent from above
I'm not that innocent

You see my problem is this
I'm dreaming away
Wishing that heroes, they truly exist
I cry, watching the days
Can't you see I'm a fool in so many ways
But to lose all my senses
That is just so typically me
Oh baby, oh

Oops, I did it again
I played with your heart, got lost in the game
Oh baby, baby
Oops, you think I'm in love
That I'm sent from above
I'm not that innocent

....

I like it except for the 007 on the second hand. Like having 007 or BMW on your number plate (yes, we can see it's a BMW and no, we don't think you're a bit like James Bond). The custom nato is really nice.

It will still be a great watch, but I would just go classic seamaster if buying new. Really it is a bit much. The red 7 would be enough, a once a month reminder that it's 'different'. Wouldn't catch Bond wearing it. Us kiwis are pretty hard on celebrity culture though....which makes us unique. In a positive way.
