Hey folks,

I'm after a Pelican 1300 case or budget equivalent. So far it looks like the budget equivalents aren't quite as deep as the Pelican and I'm pretty sure I'll need that depth of 155mm or close to it. So am happy to consider any brand, but inner dimensions are important. The price I'm willing to pay really depends on brand, colour and condition. I can get a new Pelican on eBay for about $120 landed I think, so hoping to get something 2nd hand between $40 and $70 I guess. PM, text or email me if you can help.

Just thought I'd give this a bump in case there's anything out there now. I'm still looking for a hard case and I can confirm that the inner dimensions can be no smaller than those of the Pelican 1300, which are about 251 x 178 x 155. The Pelican is readily available brand new on eBay or Rubber Monkey for $130ish so I'm happy to wait until I've got some spare coin and grab one of these, but in the meantime if anyone has a good 2nd hand one for less than $70 I'd be interested.

Sourced.

If anyone is interested:

I went hunting for budget alternatives as I knew they were out there. I'd seen some stuff online, but nothing the right size, and they weren't really much cheaper either. So I went to Bunnings yesterday as I knew they had something and found a couple of cases from a couple of different brands. Prices were better, but sizes were still wrong. It did however prompt me to start using the correct terminology in Google which is 'safe case' apparently. A quick Google search turned up the Tool Pro range at Supercheap Auto. And voila!!! Sizes are very similar to Pelican so I've been able to buy the 'small' which works well for what I need it for. Quality is surprisingly good, especially when I only paid...........$21!!!! This was the sale price, but full price is still only $26. Full foam packing is included and everything. Amazing value. Definitely worth a look as this would make a great 'tool watch' box.

Thanks for the heads up,good price & they do a rifle size one for $168 which is outstanding, not that I need another rifle one,but small ones at that price are always handy.
By all means do today the things you have always done, just remember why you can. Marknz

It would depend how you packed them Pete. This size is quite deep so you'd have a few options like having 2 layers of watches lying flat. Or you could mix and match - watches on straps lying flat and on bracelets wrapped around foam. I'd say you'll get somewhere between 6 and 12 watches in there.

Haha! Sure. I'm not using it for watches though.

That's awesome Bryn! I see I was right that you'd fit 6-12 watches in there! 6 x 2 = 12!
